P2X Solutions Launches Finland’s First Commercial Green Hydrogen Production at Harjavalta

Finnish green hydrogen pioneer P2X Solutions has become the first company in Finland to commence commercial green hydrogen production at its facility in Harjavalta. The launch of production at the Harjavalta plant marks a significant milestone for Finland’s hydrogen economy.

“With the start of commercial operations at the Harjavalta plant, Finland’s green hydrogen economy is now moving from plans to reality. I am extremely proud of our team, which has achieved this milestone together. Finland has excellent potential to become a global leader in clean hydrogen and its derivatives, and we hope many other projects will follow,” says Herkko Plit, CEO of P2X Solutions.

Green hydrogen enables significant emission reductions by replacing fossil fuels. Upcoming regulations on fuels will require substantial changes in sectors such as shipping, aviation, and industry in the coming years. The Harjavalta plant has a green hydrogen production capacity of 20 MW. The facility also includes a methanation plant, which will be commissioned at a later stage.

In BalticSeaH2, P2X Solutions elevates system integration to a level that enables the seamless connection of multiple plants onto a unified platform. This means creating a system that operates harmoniously across different energy markets, delivering tangible value to their customers by minimizing the production costs of hydrogen and synthetic fuels.

P2X Solutions is also planning hydrogen production plants in Joensuu and Oulu. The company aims to gradually scale up hydrogen production, with a 40 MW capacity planned for the Joensuu facility and up to 100 MW for the Oulu plant.
