People Behind the Project: Antti Lukkari

BalticSeaH2 in one word: Innovative

Antti Lukkari works at ABB as the project manager for BalticSeaH2’s WP4 and WP5. He holds an M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering and has been with ABB since 2016, managing projects since 2019. 

He finds it rewarding to contribute to such a large-scale initiative that tackles energy independence and carbon reduction. WP4 focuses on implementing hydrogen consumption use cases across industry, marine, transport, energy, and built environments. WP5 explores sector integration—showing how hydrogen connects with electricity, heat, and hydrogen derivatives. 

While coordinating multiple complex work packages is challenging, Antti emphasizes the value of working with highly skilled professionals across the consortium. He particularly enjoys the in-person annual meetings: “It’s great to reconnect beyond the screens and dive deep into hydrogen innovation.” 

His advice? “Be active! Attend events and stay up to date—you’ll meet experts and discover your own place in the energy transition.”
